So yeah I'm still alive and my LJ account hasn't been suspended despite the fact that I've been MIA.

Things happened, I got a job, found out about tumblr which is where you will find me these days (tumblr makes it so easy to connect to people and you don't have to crosspost everything like LJ) and other things happened in my life and truth be told, posting fandom-related things on LJ can be tedious.

So I apologize if I wasn't there these past couple of years but now that I have the app on my iPhone I'm going to give LJ a try again.

Hope you are all doing great!

Well, for me it's the contrary: I love reblogging stuff and I think tumblr is the place to "be" if I want to see more fandoms that I would on LJ.

There are so many shows I discovered because of tumblr that I'm pretty sure I would have never heard of or given them the chance, because I feel like LJ is such a pain in the ass if you want to find other interests.

My LJ has always been more fandom-oriented instead than writing about the things I do and cross-posting stuff so people will see them on their friends page had become too tedious for me, especially when I would make icons and have about 5 different fandoms (and about 3 or more LJ communities per fandom) to cross-post that I just sort of gave up?

I mean, of course if you don't want to be spoiled you have to avoid tumblr like plague because a lot of people don't tag their stuff (which highly irritates me - it's not THAT hard c'mon), but before I left for tumblr I felt like LJ had become very quiet (okay, it was the summer hiatus) about a lot of shows I love but are not airing anymore? And then I go on tumblr and there are so many people blogging about shows that are over (the number of x-files posts that appear on my dash is making me think about watching it) and people stay very active in these fandoms and I absolutely love that.

I know this is a small portion of tumblr and I don't follow that many blogs (114) but I enjoy what I see and I think the interaction between people is somewhat easier, even without the comment option as here on LJ.

Aaaaaand this has turned into a very long post of me trying to justify myself when clearly, I really have no excuse :D

Re: Hannah Mckay. Haha if I hadn't seen Chuck and fell in love with that show (thank you, tumblr ;D), I wouldn't have been curious to see Yvonne in Dexter, hence I wouldn't have watched Dexter at all. And actually I'm both Team Hannah and Team Deb :D

Yeah, I guess since mine lj's always been a small flist to begin with, and not primarily fandom-oriented, I haven't noticed the quiet so much. I used to watch a few fandom comms, but I've always had a really small reading list (like, 50 friends and maybe 10 comms tops that I watch?) because I don't have the time to keep with lots of communities and I'd rather have a few people I know well than lots of people I don't know at all. Especially since my stuff is more diary than fandom, heh. And I'm still on a really limited data plan (10gb a month) so I literally can't follow more than 10 blogs on tumblr or else all the gifs just rip through my monthly limit.

No need to justify your love for it though! I know plenty of people who are very happy there. I just feel like, even if data weren't an issue, the privacy (and tagging, yes, UGH, IT TAKES FIVE SECONDS) would still bother me and I still wouldn't use it as a primary social platform. Even when I'm fandomy, it's pretty mono-fandom - I have the show I love at the moment and the show I'll always love no matter what, and that's about it. Which you've probably been able to work out from how I reblog stuff :P

(As for Dexter, I saw trailers for it years ago when it first started, and my heart's always belonged to Deb. But this season's writing has irritated me to the point were I think it wouldn't matter *who* Dexter's love interest is, I'd still hate them a bit. I'm very cross about him right now, I have excess feelings.)

Yeah I know what you mean about tumblr not being the best social platform. It's great for fandom stuff but usually I move to other way (emails, skype, whatsapp) after a while to communicate with people I've become close to.

And yes, if I didn't have unlimited Internet access with my provider, I would be more wary (warier? I don't even know :D) to use tumblr. But then it's easier to get together with fans and keep track on fandoms on tumblr, especially when I post about many shows (sorry if I happened to spam!)

Totally understandable. And no, lol, you're fine. And I agree - it is LOADS easier to find active fans on there than on lj. It's more that I'm only 25% fannish in my own journal and mainly the data drag that keeps me away. (More wary? It's too late to English, even for a native. ;D)
